26 May 5 Beauty Essentials to Always Have in Your Home

Summer is just around the corner, but really, does it ever leave beautiful Long Beach?! We are soaking up more sun, planning our summer vacations, and staying out later, so now is the time make sure our beauty regimen is on point. Treating your skin with love and care is essential to a healthy, beautiful glow – so make sure these healthy-skin must-haves are lurking behind your bathroom mirror.

1. Moisturizer

Moisturizer makes skin soft and smooth, fights signs of aging, and improves the look of your skin. And while you can spend plenty of money on a moisturizer, you can also use natural products to moisturize that have the added benefit of being affordable, and really good for skin health. Shea butter helps treat skin conditions, like eczema, and leaves your skin feeling baby soft. Another natural option is coconut oil, which is antifungal, antibacterial, and available at every grocery store. You can definitely find products that have these moisturizing ingredients already in them, or you can simply buy the real thing. Make moisturizing part of your daily routine!

2. Face Wash/Gentle Soap

Clean skin is beautiful skin, which makes your soap a very important essential. If you wash your face in the morning and at night, you know how important it is to find a soap that you love. The same goes with whatever soap you keep on the sink and in the shower. If you have sensitive skin, it’s vital to find something that won’t make you break out or irritate your skin. You may have to experiment with a few products before you find “the one.” Wash your face and body with warm water, not hot, and apply your soap – and make sure you do a thorough job of soap removal before heading off to bed.

3. Sun Screen

We love the sun here, but the sun can also be one of our biggest worries. Sun spots, fine lines, and even cancer are caused by too much exposure to the sun. Of course we aren’t going to hide in our homes all day, but we can fight the aging power of the sun with a beauty essential that everyone should have: sun screen. Even if you aren’t going to tan on the beach or sit poolside, a little sunscreen each day can go a long way. Protect your face, chest, and the back of your hands (these places are often exposed no matter what type of outfit you are wearing) even if you don’t plan on being out in the sun very long – just add a gentle sunscreen or a moisturizer with SPF to your morning routine for protection.

4. Your Perfect Scent

Don’t overlook the power of scent on the way you feel. It may not make your skin glow, but you’ll certainly feel better – and if you are making your own natural skin products, like lotion, deodorants, or skin scrubs, you can add your favorite scent into them by using essential oils.

5. Good Nutrition

While technically you can’t keep “good nutrition” or healthy habits in your beauty cabinet, these are probably the most important beauty essential. What you eat has a big impact on your skin, and your overall health. This also means what you drink. Drinking plenty of water and eating a lot of natural, unprocessed foods will make your skin and life better. Go for the fruit and veggies instead of the protein shakes
