Depending on where you live, the snow is probably starting to melt and temps are finally starting to climb (or if you’re in Southern California, the weather is just staying beautiful). You may have already guessed it, yes, Spring Break and Spring are around the corner! Radiant, healthy skin is key to fun in the sun, whether you’re going to Cancun or just on the first picnic of spring. To keep your skin in Spring Break shape, we put together a few helpful tips.

1.Invest in the Right Products

Invest in the right sun-banishing products! Skin cancer is common and treatable, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t avoid it like the plague. Wear sun block wherever your vacation takes you. If you have sensitive skin, you may need to try a few different products before finding your “just right” sunscreen. Some folks like to have two distinct sunscreens, one for the face (usually with a moisturizer) and one for the rest of your body. Whatever you decide to do, make sure you are always protected from the sun.


Even if you’ve let your routine slide a bit during the winter (hey, if you’re stuck inside most of the time, why bother, right?) you can start getting your skin into glowing condition now. Exfoliation is key! When you exfoliate, you are getting rid of the dead skin cells that have been clinging to you over the winter, so you’ll end up with a nice, smooth surface. You’re about to venture into summer, and with that territory comes heavy use of products like sunscreen and moisturizer – it’s a good idea to get a clean slate going now.

3. Use a Moisturizer

Winter has dried out your skin, no doubt. If you weren’t moisturizing during the cold season, you should start now in preparation for your spring break skin. There are many moisturizers on the market, so ask friends what they enjoy, and maybe even test their moisturizers out on your skin before buying a whole bottle. Dry hands, elbows, and knees are annoying, but dry lips and cheeks are just as bad. You may need to diversify your products so you can have soft skin on every part of your body come spring time.

4. Experiment with Homemade Face Masks

Just another product in the moisturizing arsenal, the face mask can work wonders on your skin – and teach you how to sit in stillness and contemplate, if you’re into meditation while moisturizing. Making your own face mask is as easy as searching for it and then raiding your kitchen (most of them contain common items like oatmeal, olive oil, bananas, honey, yogurt, etc). Simply apply your homemade mask, let it sit for ten or twenty minutes, and wash it off for great feeling skin.

5. Fake that Tan!

Don’t go to a tanning bed, instead opt for a product that creates the illusion of tanning. Tanning beds have been widely condemned by people who know best, aka doctors and the Centers for Disease Control as a cause of skin cancer, not to mention you never know how sanitary they are. If you’d rather not have wrinkles and worry, you should try out different beauty supplies that moisturize and give your skin more golden hue.

6. Travel Size Products

Take a lip balm and travel size body lotion with you wherever you go. You already know that moisturizing is important, so why not stick your favorite body lotion and chapstick in your carry-on bag. Perfect for use on a long plane ride where you can’t control the climate. Even if you’re sitting between a crying baby and a loud snorer, you’ll at least have soft hands and lips. Buy a travel size product, or a reusable bottle that you can fill up with your own favorite product or homemade remedy.
